As Head of Schools for Dubai’s largest medical centre, she has transformed the lives of hundreds of children and families. Working collaboratively with families, therapists, psychologists, and schools, she ensures that every child receives the individualized support they need to thrive. Working alongside government authorities and drawing on legislation, policy frameworks, and guidelines, Cheryl has developed a deep understanding of children’s rights. She leverages this expertise to build capacity in schools, empower parents, and support students, ensuring inclusive and effective educational practices.

Beyond her professional expertise, Cheryl’s insight runs even deeper—she is a mother of two children with special needs and knows firsthand the challenges, triumphs, and emotional journey of parenting. Her lived experience fuels her determination to create meaningful and lasting change for families navigating similar paths.

Cheryl met her husband, Sean during their first jobs working as teachers in a special school in the UK. Sean is currently the Principal Advisor for Inclusion and Wellbeing at The Knowledge and Human Development Authority. Sean himself lives with the long-term effects of a severe head injury, having recovered from a coma as a child. Together, their lives are shaped by the privilege of insight, experience, and deep empathy—an understanding that extends beyond policy and practice to the very heart of what it means to be included, understood, and supported.

Cheryl wishes her role didn’t have to exist—but as long as it does, she will deliver it with unparalleled skill, integrity, and impact.

Sean Pavitt

After recovering from a coma as a young boy, Sean was left with memory loss, partial paralysis, speech, language and learning difficulties and emotional dysregulation. What followed was a long pathway to recovery. Deep and prolonged experiences of social disaffection and educational failure placed him on a unique and rich personal journey. The learning that took place during this time inspired a passion and purpose that is pervasive and resonates throughout every aspect of his life.

With almost three decades of experience of inclusive education and excelling in roles such as the principal of three specialist schools, psychotherapist, school inspector, leadership coach and Reiki Master, Sean has developed deep insights into the potential of people. A career dedicated to optimising education systems, and powerfully improving the wellbeing and outcomes of education professionals, children and families.

For the past ten years, working as a highly regarded government director and strategic advisor, Sean worked collaboratively to develop and implement an inclusive education transformation strategy across Dubai’s private school sector. His work included the development of a series of high impact initiatives, including internationally unprecedented evaluation frameworks for both inclusive education and wellbeing, generating potent and systemic changes and achieving regional, national and international accolade.

Sean’s work has been short listed for the Zero Project Award (United Nations) and has led to him being awarded a Golden Visa by Dubai Government for his significant contribution towards meeting the aspirations of the United Arab Emirates.
